Tracking PixelLife with two boys is always an adventure. Whether we are battling it out in a galaxy far, far away, captains of the swashbuckling pirate ship, or soaring high above the clouds on our own pet dragons, every day brings something new and exciting. It's a world I was never invited to, being a girl, and now I am fully immersed in all things boy and I couldn't love it more!! At 5 and 7, my boys are so full of energy and keeping up with them each day can be exhausting!

My potty training experience with each boy was challenging in completely different ways for each child. They were both so stubborn and wanted to be the ones to control that aspect in their life. But, for my oldest, once we let him figure out when he was ready to use the potty, on his terms, it became a piece of cake. He was a pro and we never had any problems or issues with him wetting the bed, himself, or holding it too long.

With my youngest, that was a completely different story. His potty training experience was a bit easier and once he was potty trained, completely, we felt a sense of accomplishment that we now had two fully potty trained boys!! Then something happened and he started to wetting the bed. Not often, but it would happen more often then not. We felt he was regressing and became frustrated with him.

At the time, we had no idea that this was something he was not able to control. He refused to wear diapers or anything that resembled a diaper. We weren't sure what to do. We piled sheet protectors onto his mattress and double layered sheets as well as extra coverings onto his bed just to keep his bed dry. But, that didn't help him one bit. He would wake up in the middle of the night crying because he had wet the bed and himself. We then realized this was an actual issue that was beyond his control and that we needed to take a step back and assess the situation. He was, of course, not doing this on purpose.

Now that he in kindergarten, he is making lots of friends and getting asked to parties and sleepovers. He feels ashamed and embarrassed to sleep over at anyone's house for fear of wetting the bed. He is afraid his friends will laugh at him so I have to make excuses why he cannot attend. Then he feels bad he has to miss the party and be with his friends.
