I am not much of a baker, or cook for that matter, but I do love to bake with my boys especially around the holidays. They love helping in the kitchen and I love that they get so excited to mix the ingredients or even to help hold the bowl. It's such a wonderful time of year and I want to give them something special to remember. Even if it's just baking, I know it will be baked with love.

One of the things we love to make are OREO Cookie Balls. Who doesn't love OREO cookies??? Its one of our favorites and these cookie balls are no exception. They are simple to make and leaves a great impression no matter where you serve them. So, we headed to Wal-Mart to stock up with all the ingredients we need to make the sweet treats.

Baking these OREO Cookie Balls are so simple. All you need is:
  •  pkg (8 oz.) brick cream cheese, softened
  • 36 OREO Cookies, finely crushed (about 3 cups)
  • pkg. (4 oz. each) semi-sweet baking chocolate, melted
  • Candy Canes, crushed (optional)

We like to crush up some candy canes and add to our OREO Cookie Balls and baking them is super easy. My 6 and 8 year old helped me with every step along the way.

We started by crushing 36 of the OREO cookies.

Then we mixed the cream cheese and cookie crumbs until blended. If you would like, this is the time to add some of the crushed candy canes. Be sure to save some for the top.

And of course we had to clean off the mixers.

We rolled and shaped into little bite sized balls. Then placed in the freezer for about 10 min.

After we melted the chocolate, we rolled the OREO balls into the melted chocolate and placed on a single layer wax paper lined baking pan. Then immediately topped with our crushed candy canes.

Place in the refrigerator for about an hour or until firm.

Share and enjoy these delicious treats! Not only are these a favorite in our house, but we think Santa would love these as well! I think this year we will leave these out for Santa with a nice glass of milk and our wish list letter. We are offering our Letter to Santa Printable for FREE.
