Growing up we always had pets in the house. Dogs, cats, hamsters, rabbits, we had it all. They were part of the family and I loved them more then anything. Now that I am a mom with two boys, I want to make sure my boys are able to share that special bond with animals just as I was able to when I was their age. At ages 9 and 7, my boys love dogs, well animals in general, and we officially have 3 of them. They are wonderful dogs and can get a little crazy at times but they make our lives so much fun!

With the holidays coming up, I want to treat our dogs to something special. It's our Ruby's very first Christmas with us since we rescued her over the summer and I want to make sure she has a great day as well as our other two dogs as well. Their favorite treats are Beggin’ Strips. I mean, who doesn't love bacon right? But, they love them at little too much, if that's event possible. Baylee, our rescued 2 year old Beagle, found our secret hiding spot and helped herself to the entire bag. So, I created this simple dog treat container to hold their favorite treats.

I wanted the container to sit on our kitchen counter, but I didn't want it to stand out or clash with our decor. Just by using an empty jar, some spray paint, and a decorative knob, I crafted this fun and simple treat jar that is perfect to hold their favorite treats and would even make a perfect gift to give this holiday season to any pet-lover.

What you need:

  • Large mason jar
  • Spray paint
  • Decorative vintage drawer pull
  • Drill with drill bit
  • Pencil

How to Make:
1. Remove and spray paint jar lid. Both pieces. Let dry.
2. Using a pencil, mark a dot in the center of the lid.
3. Using the drill and bit, drill a hole through the center of the lid.
4. Attach vintage drawer pull.
5. Fill with your favorite dog treats.

Kroger is my go to place to stock up on special treats and food for our pets. Whether it's just because or for a special holiday treat, I love that they have a great selection to choose from. Beneful dry dog food is better than ever featuring meat as the number 1 ingredient and no sugar added. The new reformulated recipe was created directly from the feedback of real pet owners.

Plus, my dogs favorite treats are Beggin’ StripsThey smell like bacon and taste like bacon because they’re made with real bacon. When I need to keep them occupied for a few minutes while wrapping gifts or stuffing stockings, Busy dog treats keeps them busy and happy. So, next time your needing to stock up on some great holiday treats for your pets, be sure to head to Kroger and grab some of our tried and true favorites.
