my life homemade: Dining Room Mini Makeover

Dining Room Mini Makeover

So, I recently decided that our dining room needed a little makeover. well, it screamed for one actually! LOL. But, really didn't have a lot of money to spend on the makeover, so the items I chose needed to make a statement and transform the room. With just a change of curtains and a few accessories, it made a huge difference.

Here is the before shot. Sorry for the people in the picture. For some reason, I could not find a single "before" shot I took and the ones I had were so washed out.

After:
I saw this sign on another blog, they had purchased at a store and I loved it. But the price tag was not in my budget. So, I made one myself. Using an old cabinet door, some spray paint, and vinyl letters. I created this sign for FREE.

I had an empty space I wanted to fill between the ceiling and window. We have very tall ceilings and needing something to spruce up the area. I purchased these large MDF letters from Hobby Lobby. They were 40% off each. I paid only $4.00 each. I purchased the letters EAT and painted them a dark brown to match the sign. I hung each letter using command strips.

I fell in LOVE with these curtains! They were perfect but the biggest splurge!!! Perfect color and design. I found these at Target for $19.99 a panel. However, I went back to purchase some more for our living room and they were on clearance for $9.99. :( But were sold out of the red. Because, the new curtains were heavier then the old ones, I had to purchase an extra long, thick rod. It was $32.00 at Walmart.

To add a fall centerpiece to the table, I snatched up an old charger I had in my closet, added some berry stems to an old metal jar vase my mom gave me, and some pumpkins. Tied a thick brown ribbon to the vase and created the perfect centerpiece. All items, except for the vase, I snatched up at Hobby Lobby. Not all at once however, the charger, ribbon, and orange fabric pumpkins I have had for awhile. :)
(The jar lanterns I made as well but will share those in another post.)

I removed the large candles inside my pillars that were already on the table and placed the wicker/stick balls that were placed inside a basket that was on the table as well inside.

The full shot. I am super excited how everything turned out. I spent a total of $85 on everything. The curtains took up most of that budget. But, I feel they were worth it. They make the most change for the space.
