A Hollywood Movie Premiere Birthday Party

I love the feel of Hollywood glitz and glamour and the allure of the red carpet draws me. Plus, not only am I totally obsessed, my oldest son loves the movies as well. So, when it came time to plan his 7th birthday party last year, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I got straight to work on bringing a Hollywood Movie Premiere to our living room. Not wanting to do the traditional red carpet themed birthday, I used black and gold and lots of glitter. I have two boys and the opportunities for glitter use are limited, so I have to jump at the chance to add glitter where ever I could.

As guests entered they were greeted with our own mini Walk of Fame complete with a personalized vinyl star I created for the party using the themes colors of black and gold. The Braden star was flanked with gold glitter stars leading guests to walk the "black carpet" for photo ops.

Party guests walked the "black carpet" and posed for pictures from our waiting paparazzi. Real velvet roping sectioned off the area so they could not get too close to our "celebrities". A giant clap board provided a backdrop and listed social media details so friends can follow along during the party.

The first of three party tables was our dessert table. It was decked out with so many delicious treats provided by Sweet and Sassy Cakes of Forney. Old movie reels were placed throughout the party and old film tins were painted gold and used as trays and plates. Wrapped boxes provided height for the cake and old vintage movie cameras. A large gold frame and 3 over-sized gold stars provided the show stopping backdrop.

The two tiered cake was full of glitter and topped with coordinating stars perfect for our birthday superstar.

Cake balls were fitted with glitter flags, cupcakes topped with gold stars, and star shaped brownies were front and center for the taking. Vintage cameras provided decorations for the table and gave the table a finished look.

A Hollywood party would not be complete without a concession stand. Our food table was full of our favorite movie theater staples; hot dogs, pretzels, pickles, and of course boxes of movie theater candy.

Hot dogs were wrapped with gold glitter ribbon and matching black and gold bags were used to serve the pretzels and pickles. A customized smaller clapboard set a top the food table along with a personalized directors megaphone.

A movie themed party would not be complete without popcorn! There were four different kinds of popcorn for our guests to choose from. Kettle corn, butter flavored, caramel, and regular popcorn was placed in striped or polka dot popcorn boxes and extras in metal tins. Flavored salt toppings and chocolate candies were provided to make the popcorn extra sweet.

We handmade a black and gold glitter banner to hang over the popcorn table and placed gold glitter stars around to break up the black tablecloth.

After filling up on sweet treats and lots of goodies, guests were treated to the birthday boys favorite movie (at the time). Plus, guests could burn off some energy at our movie prop photo booth.

The favor area was decorated with movie posters and old fashioned movie reels. To thank our guests for coming, each child was given a custom glittered movie tote with matching tumbler we made especially for our Hollywood themed party.

What an amazing time we had! The birthday boy had a fabulous time and loved everything about it. Thank you to everyone who helped make this party one-of-a-kind.
