I just love Thanksgiving. Being with family and friends and all sitting around the table together to enjoy a delicious home cooked meal is always special. But, after spending hours and even days preparing for the big meal, the last thing I want to do when I wake up the next morning, is to cook dinner. The Friday after Thanksgiving is typically left over day! But, then how many days can actually be considered left over day before the kids start getting tired of having turkey and dressing??? In my house, not many. So, I was challenged by my boys to think of something else for dinner. Not wanting to waste any of our leftovers that may be left, I utilized the delicious Hormel Cure 81 bone-in ham cherrywood flavor and made Leftover Ham and Cheese Sliders with a honey mustard glaze. I would say, dinner was a hit that night.
The Hormel Cure 81 Bone-In Ham Cherrywood Flavor is available at Wal-Mart and was a perfect addition to our Thanksgiving dinner table. We did however, have some leftovers. We packed them up and was able to enjoy them for the next few days. But, by the weekend, my boys were wanting something different. Still being "cooked out" from the week, I wanted something simple, but delicious. Having leftover rolls as well, I got the idea to put together these super delicious Ham and Cheese Sliders that were a success!!!

What you will need:

  • Hormel Cure 81 Bone-In Ham, sliced.
  • 6-8 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 tablespoons of butter
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 2 teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons of Dijon mustard
  • 8-12 slider buns or dinner rolls, cut in half

To make the Honey Mustard Glaze:

  1. Melt the butter in the microwave
  2. Mix in Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and honey. Mix well, set aside.

To make the sliders:
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
  3. Place the bottom half of the dinner rolls on the baking sheet.
  4. Top each bottom half with ham and cheese.
  5. Top with top half of dinner roll.
  6. Drizzle honey mustard glaze over top of dinner rolls.
  7. Bake until cheese has melted, around 10 minutes.

We paired our ham and cheese sliders with home made BBQ baked beans for a delicious and simple dinner idea that our boys loved and couldn't get enough of. Not bad for using mostly leftovers from our Thanksgiving dinner.
