I don't know what it is about this time of year. Maybe it's the cooler temperatures, the crisp mornings, or the vibrant colors? Maybe it's Halloween!! I will go with the cooler temperatures and Halloween. I love the holidays and a break from the heat is always welcome. I like to celebrate everything and share my love for the holiday with friends and family! So, I simply can not pass up an opportunity to throw a themed lunch for them when ever I can.

Themed holiday parties are not just for kids. Especially when the right food is served. Hillshire Farm® Lit'l Smokies® smoked sausages  made a great addition to our Halloween party. Serve them in a witches cauldron for an even more spooktacular treat. I cooked the smokies in a delicious sauce that took only 5 ingredients and was ready in under 10 minutes. It was a huge hit and everyone wanted more.

Honey Chipotle BBQ Sauce for Smokies

Ingredients:
  • 1/4 cup of honey chipotle bbq sauce
  • 2 tbsp of light brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp of honey
  • 1/2 tsp of hot sauce
  • Hillshire Farms®  Lit’l Smokies® smoked sausages

1. Add all ingredients into a pot (except for smokies) and cook over medium high heat. Stir and cook until sugar has dissolved.

2. Add smokies and cook until heated through.

3. Using a slotted spoon, remove smokies from pot and serve in a Halloween themed dish. We used a black witches cauldron for our party.
4. Place the remaining sauce into a dish for dipping.

Decorating for a Halloween party doesn't have to be a hassle. Fill it with a few fun essentials like our DIY Halloween felt banner. Creating this banner is super easy and is a great craft you can complete in no time.

Serve swamp water (Ice water) in witches cauldrons topped with a polka dot straw for a twist your guests will love. Who wouldn't want to drink out of a witches cauldron?!

Creepy spiders, LED candles, lanterns, and mini spell books will set the mood and complete your party table.

Create your own Halloween Friends Spooky Banner!
What you need:
  • Felt Squares - any colors you'd like. I used black, white, orange, green, pink, gray, and brown.
  • Large googly eyes
  • Hot Glue
  • Ruler
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Ribbon
  • Craft knife

1. Cut your base pieces, the square banner flag, by folding felt in half, cut, then fold in half again, and cut. Your are left with small rectangles that will be used for the bases of the banner.

2. Now to cut your pieces. I free hand cut EVERYTHING! It's super simple and does not need to be perfect. I love that the more imperfect it is the better it looks.

3. To create Frankenstein, simply use bright green for the base. Using black, cut hair and stitches. Use gray to create the neck bolts and googly eyes to complete. Hot glue all pieces on top of the green base and let dry.

4. To create a pumpkin use an orange base. Cut a stem from brown and leaves from green. Attach to base with hot glue and attach the eyes and let dry.

5. Beware of black cats! The cat is so fun! Cut triangle eyes and a curvy tail to create your cat. Don't forget a little pink nose and googly eyes. Use hot glue to attach everything and let dry.

6. Can't forget about the bats! Cut out two triangles for ears in the black and some wings. Using the white felt, cut out two skinny triangles as fangs. As the others, attach with hot glue and don't forget the googly eyes.

7. To create a mummy is simple! Using the black as a base cut small strips from a white base and stagger all over the black. Make sure to leave a small space for the eyes to show through.

8. Want to have a ghost too? Simply take a white base and attach googly eyes! So simple.

9. Using the craft knife, cut small slits on each side of the banner bases and string your ribbon through. (If your cat's tail is tall enough, cut a slit through the top to make sure the tail stands tall.)

10. Hang your banner for a fun and spooky Halloween decoration!
I used ours for our Spooky Halloween party and everyone loved it!!!

To complete our Halloween party, we made a trip to Sam's Club to pick up a few essentials like Hillshire Farm® Lit'l Smokies® smoked sausages and Ball Park® Franks or what we called Werewolf toes and mummy dogs. Because no get together is complete without our favorite foods!

Plan your own Spooky Halloween party with the help from Sam's Club and Hillshire Farm® Lit'l Smokies® smoked sausages and Ball Park® Franks.

I would love to see how you use our DIY Halloween Felt Banner at your Spooky Halloween Lunch!!!
