Living in a house full of amazing guys, game days are always fun! Just the thought of being able to be surrounded by the three most handsome and wonderful guys for an entire afternoon, or sometimes the whole day, makes for a perfect day. Life gets so busy sometimes and just being able to sit down and share an experience with them is something I wouldn't give up for anything. Now, that my boys are getting older they are excited for game days and actually look forward to it. They also help me prepare and get everything ready for the big day. It's a great bonding moment and I hope that one day when they are older they can look back and remember these moments and pass them on to their family.

Picking the right food to serve that everyone loves can be hard. I have one that will eat anything and then I have another one that is so picky, it's hard to find anything he likes. But, I do make sure that I have our tried and true favorites, like Coca-Cola on hand as our go to drinks. There is just something special about enjoying a nice cold refreshing glass of Coca-Cola while watching our favorite teams play on TV.

This time, I wanted to take it up a notch and I baked up these amazingly delicious meatballs, slow cooked for hours in a Coca-Cola sauce that gave them just the right sweetness and flavor that everyone was loving and asking for more! It was so simple to make too! which I love, because that gives me more time to spend with my boys, watching the game, or setting up for our fun filled day. All you need is a slow-cooker and 5 ingredients. Most of the ingredients I had on hand, but what I didn't I headed to our local Dollar General, which is just a short drive down the road, to pick up everything I needed to make these snacks and get to get everything I needed for our game day celebration.

Ingredients:

  • 1 bag of frozen meatballs
  • 12 ounces of Coca-Cola
  • 1 cup of your favorite BBQ sauce
  • 1 tbsp of worchestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp of hot sauce

Recipe:

1. Add frozen meatballs to slow-cooker.
2. Combine all ingredients in a small bowl and mix well.
3. Pour over frozen meatballs.
4. Cover and cook on hight for 4 hours or on low for 6 hours (until meatballs are fully cooked).

While the meatballs were simmering in the crock pot, I decided to get everything set up for our game day watching party. It was just going to be us rooting on our favorite team, but I wanted it to be fun and I wanted it to be special. I was going for a black and white, referee themed, football party and Dollar General had just about everything I needed to pull it off without spending a fortune. I was able to purchase plates, napkins, plastic ware, tablecloths, the beautiful flower centerpieces, of course Coca-Cola products and more to make our party complete.

A simple black tablecloth was used with a black chalkboard runner that was covered with football plays and moves. Black and white striped vases with white flowers from Dollar General was used as the perfect centerpieces for our referee dining table.

Matching football wraps were attached to an empty can and filled with plastic ware and set aside with the black paper plates and white napkins.

Each table setting was placced with a white square plate topped with a round black paper plate, napkin, and a black and white paper straw. Mason jars filled with ice for our Coca-Cola and Coke Zero. I know eating at the kitchen table can be boring, so setting up this display made them actually excited to eat and enjoy their snacks and food, plus our TV is clearly visiable fromt the kitchen so we wouldn't miss a single play.

I also set up a smaller table with green turf and black tablecloth I folded to create a runner. Small chalkboards were used to minic the chalkboard runner in the kitchen and held crackers and veggies to snack on as well. But, we were patiently waiting for the Coca-Cola meatballs to be ready. They were mouth-waterinly delicious and a perfect treat and the perfect match up with Coca-Cola, for our family fun game day watching party.
